For this editorial, I acted as the designer, content curator, photographer, and editor. I interviewed the manager, Jarrod Forthman, with questions I created to collect the information I felt necessary to showcase the zoo in the best light. I chose the font Joanna Nova because I felt the origins of the font, e.g. the designer naming the font after one of his daughters and describing it as “a book face free from all fancy business”, mirrored the fun, family friendly feel of the zoo. I utilized the grid of my newspaper to display the small origins of the zoo and the growth it has experienced since it first opened. I printed the publication through NewspaperClub.com.
